My Foo Fighters Animatic Exercise and Evaluation

What did I have to do?
I watched 'The Pretender’ music video by the Foo Fighters, I then had to story board each shot for the 40 seconds of the video, write down how long the shot lasted and how far the shot was into the actual music video. After doing all of this, I took individual pictures of each shot and uploaded them into Adobe Premiere so I could make an animatic out of them. I put the actual music video in a corner of the animatic and synced the story board to the music video.

What we learned by doing this?
As I was fairly new to using Adobe Premiere on a Mac, I learnt the basic ways of editing using the software and how to successfully sync videos each other and also the sound. Some of the shots lasted only a second, it was quite hard syncing the videos together.
At the start, the video starts of slowly, establishing the scene and introducing the band members.
The cuts becomes more rapid as the song speeds up so I learnt that the speed of editing has to match the speed of the music video.

How is editing a music video different to editing a thriller?
I learnt that compared to editing a thriller, music videos are much faster due to the amount of cuts between different shots. It also harder to sync the audio and the video together as they are recorded separately, syncing the two together is a tedious process. Angles are switched constantly to stimulate the viewer, thrillers are much more slow due to the fact its mostly dialogue between characters.
