In the 1940's, American singer and actor, Bing Crosby was the biggest star in the world. Fans could only watch Bing through his appearances on films such as White Christmas and later on TV shows such as his own The Bing Crosby Show.
In the 1950's, the more prominent star was the American singer, actor, filmmaker, and conductor Frank Sinatra. Like Bing, fans of him could only see him through his appearances on films such as High Society or on TV shows like The Frank Sinatra Show or specials such as A Man and His Music.
With the birth of Rock and Roll came a new star; the sleek and energetic Elvis Presley. Fans mostly saw him on TV specials, films such as Blue Hawaii, G.I Blues and Jailhouse Rock and would also go to see him when he performed on stage at concerts all over America.
Then in the 1960's, the new musical phenomenon was The Beatles, who were known all over the world. By 1966, they had become sick of touring due to the fact that the music they were performing couldn't be heard because of all the screaming girls at their concerts. Like famous stars before them The Beatles could be seen through their appearances on TV shows such as Top of The Pops and in feature films like A Hard Day's Night
.
One thing they did different to release and promote their music was to submit two short films for a double sided single they had at the time entitled 'Paperback Writer' and 'Rain'. Both these videos were both made at Kenwood House in London.
